Newbie Info
From Omnifi Wiki
Welcome to the Omnifi users group. This Wiki site is an extension of the Yahoo Omnifi Forum.
Gmail setup
No doubt, you may have immediately discovered that the site is difficult to follow. The seasoned members of the Omnifi Forum do not view the forum messages there directly; rather they have each message forwarded to them via email. Particularly useful is the free GMail account which automatically groups like messages together in a thread and makes sorting and searching through messages very, very easy.
If you do not already have a Gmail account, please feel free to ask for one on the forum. The members will be very happy to send you an invitation (Gmail is by invitation only, at this point).
Once you have received your Gmail invitation, you will need to add your new email address to your Yahoo Omnifi Forum profile. A sample setup is shown below. Use the Add New Email address to add your new Gmail account and mark it as your primary email.
It will take up to 24 hours for new mail to start arriving at your Gmail.
Yahoo! Profile This profile will be used to identify you when you access the group's Web features. <newUser>(Add new profile) Email Address Choose the email address that you would like group messages sent to. (Add new email address) Message Delivery X Individual emails - Receive individual messages. * Daily digest - Receive a daily compilation of many emails in one message. * Special notices - Receive only important email notices from the group moderator. * No email - I'll read messages on the web site. Message Format X Convert to HTML - Convert plain-text messages sent to me to HTML. * Do not convert to HTML - Don't change the format of messages I receive. Note: The HTML format allows you to see colors and graphics in your messages.
Once you begin receiving the forum messages in Gmail, you optionally can set up labels to tag your messages for easy retrieval. This is particularly useful if you belong to multiple forums.
A note about setting up your external emails to receive messages. The Yahoo forum engine will only start sending you new messages. You will still have to search through the old Yahoo message posts or this Wiki page for uncovering bits of information. If you don't find it anywhere, or are exhausted from searching the Yahoo messages, feel free to ask the members of the forum.
